There is a public footpath that runs along the bank before heading up the track beside Fir Covert then on to Hempstead and Baconsthorpe. There are a number of enjoyable walks that include BACONSTHORPE CASTLE and NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has details and a map of all footpaths locally.
The information board by the pond also has a diagrammatic map of all the local footpaths.
There is no public access around the pond, indeed areas of this woodland are very dangerous owing to the boggy nature of the land. Eventually should a bird hide be constructed access may be available, incorporating educational talks and tours.
Picnics are permitted on the bank, but please remove all evidence of them. Barbeques and open fires are not allowed due to the proximity of the woodland.
